  You may use Advanced Ads and use custom placement, so you can place ads in desire position.

  There’re a few widget areas in Appearance/Widgets, you can add ads to basically any sidebar using some plugin that implements a Google AdSense widget. Adding ads in other areas is also possible, but requires custom code snippets.
