Experiencing some weird behaviour with category specific same-name-attributes

    Hey,

Here is what I do: I create an attribute called let’s say “Example” and assign it to category “1”, and then I make another attribute called the exact same thing ie “Example” and assign it to category “2”. If I for attribute “Example” for category “1” add fx 4 Options, then sometimes these Options are suddenly visible in attribute “Example” for category “2”. Why is that?

Another behaviour I experience is that if I Allow Front End Editing for both attributes, sometimes one of the attributes is not shown on the front end. I suspect that was causes this random behaviour is that I give the attributes the exact same name, but this is needed since we need attributes with the same names but the Options inside the attribute are category specific. So I need them to behave completely individually, but they seem not to.

Yes, this may be related to conflicting names. Please try setting different slugs for these attributes, you can keep the same name but different slugs (if there’s no slug field please click Screen Options at the top to make it visible). The slugs are used for storing attributes so there may be the same display names, but different slugs.

Changing the slugs worked, thanks! For anyone else experiencing this, watch out with the Options already created – these will be deleted every time you change the slug.. 🙂
