    So,

i’m trying to find an easy way have a select attribute and have the categories of said select field type to be like this structure below. I have a csv file of all the united states cities but don’t know how to import it into my specific select attribute as categories. I tried the plugin all import but it doesn’t do what i’m wanting it to.

    Canada
    — Alberta
    —Calgary
    USA
    — Alabama
    — Montgomery

Its a pain to enter every city manually… I’m sure their is a way to add it all at once that has a decent guide on how to do with hivepress?

The WP All Import should be ok, it supports importing custom taxonomy terms. The taxonomy names depends on the attribute name, for example if the attribute is named “City” then the taxonomy is “hp_listing_city”. I highly recommend using Geolocation extension to enable the location search instead of importing all the cities/states, a large drop-down list may cause performance issues and Geolocation has useful features like the radius-based search.

Using the required google api which i don’t have if your extension used OSM then I would use Geolocation.

okay will try the wp all import plugin again but i’m worried it won’t automatically structure the data in the correct hierarchy like i showed above.

You can set up Google Maps API and use their free limit if there’s no high traffic yet, also you can limit the number of daily map requests to avoid exceeding the free limit. I highly recommend using it until OSM support is implemented.

    by the time of implementation?
Do you have information when it might happen?
I browse the posts and you wrote about this many months ago.

I checked a different theme and a plug that makes perfect use of it. GeoDirecory. Check. A very good solution. But they lack a good contact form. You have one I care about. And that’s why I would love to see Open Street Maps with you.

Sorry, there’s no specific time frame for it since it’s a free extension, but it still has a high priority. Also, one of the HivePress users agreed to sponsor this feature (order it as custom work) and share it with the community, so it should be implemented as soon as we start accepting customization requests again.

    Thank you for your answer.
Or maybe add a “geodirectory” plugin to make it compatible? Then there is the option to choose maps. Is it good idea?

or is it possible to make changes to the message plugin? So that it is compatible with another theme?

    lipa

sorry for the next message. I don’t see the post edit option.
Would it be a good idea to add shortcodes?
In place of a google map, an additional option, a short code. Another plug could take over the google maps function (along with advertisement pins and reach from the last advertisement). If it’s possible.

Sorry, it’s not possible to merge the map only since Geodirectory is a standalone directory plugin like HivePress, using 2 directory plugins within the same site would cause many issues and conflicts since many features and pages would be duplicated. Thanks for your feedback, we’ll try to improve the maps.
The Messages extensions requires HivePress to work but the theme doesn’t matter, the My Account/Messages section will be available in any theme if you have HivePress installed.

    Thank you for your answer.
What you wrote leads to a vicious circle.
The news add-on only works with HivePress, but then OSM (from another developer) doesn’t work.
When I enable the plugin with OSM, the “message” plugin doesn’t work because it needs an active HivePress.

In that case, I am waiting for an update. Until then, I will be using a different directory plugin (with no active messages). The location is too important for local classified ads (classified ads searched within 5 kilometers). Ads from all over the country will appear without any localization.

Thank you for your time. All the best!

Thanks, we’ll try to improve it and no worries, you can use any directory plugin you like if it has more features required for your site – I hope you’ll find a suitable solution.
