    Hi Ihor,

    I’m still having issues with portrait images getting the heads cut off. I’m not sure what the solution is but hope you can help in some way?

    There seems to be an issue with this forum as well, I can’t send the full message for some reason?

    every time I do it says you cannot reply to this

    Thirdly, I’m still getting issues when people pay for a package – on all 3 sites I have, using Woo commerce as the payment provider and Worldplay as the gateway to take the payments, it never submits the listing ever. WooCommerce gets the payment response, but there is no handover back to hivepress. I have to manually login as the user or get them to do it – and resubmit their listing – then it goes through without asking them to select a package. One of the sites will be getting roughly 150 listings a month once it picks up, which will be a real headache if we can’t figure it out.

    Finally, I’m getting a few performance issues that are more frequent since the new version. I would be interested to know if anyone else is getting them. I have top tier hosting with a company called GreenGeeks, they are blaming hivepress – but what happens is when saving or publishing a new listing from wp-admin, the whole site hangs for random amounts of time it varies from a few seconds up to 1 minute. This happens to all 3 of my sites, which i have tried disabling all other plugins aside from those needed for hivepress but it still continues to lag. I wonder if others have had similar experiences, as I might try changing hosts again.

    re images, on the listings page it also shows the thumbnails in all different sizes which makes it look messy on desktop. Can this be set to fixed so all posts on listings view are the same dimensions/sizes?

    Thanks

    Hi,

    1. Please try using the code snippet suggested in another topic, and then you can regenerate existing thumbnails. By default the cropped images are centered, because usually photos have their subject in the center (this doesn’t apply to portraits), for example any products, interiors etc.

    2. I’ll update the paid packages extension as soon as possible and will test this.

    3. There was a major core framework update, I will not change it from now on, and it will be optimized with each update. If your hosting provider has any details, like the error log or queries that cause the lag please send these to support@hivepress.io

    Thanks for your feedback and donations!

    Hi Ihor,

    Sorry – yes I am using the code you supplied me with – i forgot to mention. The horizontal/landscape images are fine, it’s now the portrait/vertical that are being cut off

    ihordeveloper

    Please try using the same snippet, but with “portrait_small” image size instead of “landscape_small”.

    Thanks, I’ve implemented this via CPanel and regenerated the thumbnails but it is still having issues, can both codes work at the same time?

    ihordeveloper

    This image size may be defined in the ListingHive theme so this code snippet should work for the category (portrait) images:

    add_filter(
    	'hivetheme/v1/image_sizes',
    	function( $image_sizes ) {
    		$image_sizes[ 'portrait_small' ][ 'crop' ] = [ 'center', 'top' ];

    		return $image_sizes;
    	}
    );

    HI Ihor,

    I’m still having a lot of issues with Portrait images and their heads being cut off.

    I used the codes suggested and regenerated the thumbnails but still does not work;

    The above is an example.

    I would gladly pay for your time to have this resolved as it’s a big stopper for users who are paying for their listings.

    Thanks,

    A

    Sorry, I misunderstood the issue, this image size is named “landscape_large” in HivePress. This code snippet should 100% work (don’t forget to regenerate thumbnails after you add it https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/):

    add_filter(
    	'hivepress/v1/image_sizes',
    	function( $image_sizes ) {
    		return HivePress\Helpers\merge_arrays(
    			$image_sizes,
    			[
    				'landscape_large' => [
    					'crop' => [ 'center', 'top' ],
    				],
    			]
    		);
    	}
    );

    But please note that images will have a landscape ration anyway (they’ll be just cropped starting from the top). If you want to allow variable image height this code snippet will work, but image gallery will change it’s height on rotation (currently all images are cropped to 3:4 ratio):

    add_filter(
    	'hivepress/v1/image_sizes',
    	function( $image_sizes ) {
    		return HivePress\Helpers\merge_arrays(
    			$image_sizes,
    			[
    				'landscape_large' => [
    					'crop'    => [ 'center', 'top' ],
    					'height' => 9999,
    				],
    			]
    		);
    	}
    );

    Currently I don’t have time for custom work, but you can support HivePress development with donations (of any amount) for these custom code snippets:)

    I’ve tried to reply to this thread 3 times, each time it does not submit my reply and i lose all my text?

    Is there some kind of limit on number of characters or is it because I’ve included 2 exteernal links? Either way I’ve wasted 10 minutes retyping

    Hi ihor, that’s worked to a degree but i notice the issue still presents itself with images that have a height of 800 or more pixels in some cases.

    Another issue that needs addressing somehow is the list of images shown under the main image, they look quite untidy in that they are all different sizes, i feel that the sizing should be fixed to make it look cleaner. see the example blow;

    Also in the example above you’ll note that when you click through each image the user is forced to scroll up and down as the image drastically forces the page text below the image up and down.

    See the example of the images on the old website which is 7 years old – how the thumbnail images below the main image is in a fixed position:

    Thanks again for all your help, I will continue to support hivepress with my donations.
